5 Memorable Wins from Rashad Evans in UFC

"Suga" Rashad Evans is the latest fighter to enter the UFC Hall of Fame after UFC announced his induction during the broadcast of UFC Fight Night Rochester in Evans' home state of New York.

Evans was the winner of The Ultimate Fighter season 2 and went on to become the UFC light heavyweight champion.

Starting his mixed martial arts career in 2004, Evans fought professionally for 14 years before hanging up the gloves in mid-2018.

We look back on the biggest wins in Evans' career.

Rashad Evans vs. Brad Imes at The Ultimate Fighter 2 Finale - November 5, 2005

Evans was an NCAA Division I wrestler for Michigan State University, notably holding a win over wrestling legend Greg Jones. Evans first garnered attention in MMA by entering The Ultimate Fighter season 2 as a heavyweight.

In the tournament, Evans defeated Tom Wilson and Mike Whitehead to make it to the semifinals, where he took on future Jackson's MMA teammate Keith Jardine for a spot in the finals. Evans would take a decision over Jardine and would be scheduled to take on Brad Imes in the finale.

The size discrepancy showed at the weigh-in with the 6'7" Imes towering over a 5'11" Evans.

Evans would eventually drop Imes with punches and earn a split decision victory to win the TUF 2 tournament and earn a contract with UFC.

Rashad Evans vs. Sean Salmon at UFC Fight Night Hollywood - January 25, 2007

Evans would elect to move down to the light heavyweight division following winning TUF 2 and face competition closer to his natural size. After going on a three-fight winning streak in the division, Evans would be matched up against Sean Salmon.

Around this time, Evans would be criticized for being a one-dimensional wrestler, winning virtually by only taking the fight to the ground.

Evans would face adversity by losing the first round in grappling exchanges.

However in the second round, Evans would connect with a head kick on Salmon, rendering him unconscious to win the fight by devastating knockout.

Salmon would be stretchered from the ring, and the mixed martial arts world would learn that 'Suga' has picked up striking technique.

Rashad Evans vs. Chuck Liddell at UFC 88 - September 6, 2008

After being taken to a draw by former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz and taking a decision over future middleweight champion Michael Bisping, Evans would be scheduled to face all-time light heavyweight great Chuck Liddell at UFC 88.

Evans would enter the fight a +210 underdog against the beloved Liddell, however the stage was set for 'Suga' to shock the world.

Evans would counter Liddell in the second round with a vicious overhand right to knock out the former light heavyweight ruler.

The finish would be one of Evans' signature highlights in mixed martial arts.

Rashad Evans vs. Forrest Griffin at UFC 92 - December 27, 2008

Following Evans' brutal finish of Liddell, Dana White would announce that Evans would be next to challenge for the light heavyweight title, taking on Forrest Griffin at UFC 92.

Griffin would control the first two rounds with strikes, holding the wrestling-oriented Evans at range.

In the third round, Evans would catch a kick from Griffin and put him down with a punch. Evans would follow up with strikes on a ground to rock Griffin and finish the fight to become light heavyweight champion.

Rashad Evans vs. Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson at UFC 114 - May 29, 2010

Following Evans dropping the title at UFC 98, Dana White announced The Ultimate Fighter season 10 to be coached by rivals Evans and Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson, featuring notable contestants Kimbo Slice, Brendan Schaub and Matt Mitrione.

Evans would have extreme coaching success over Jackson as all but one of Evans' picked fighters advanced to the quarterfinals of competition, and also having both fighters from his team competing to win the tournament in the finale. Evans would also get under the skin of Jackson during the TUF 10 season adding to their growing feud.

During the season of TUF 10 broadcasts, Jackson would abruptly quit the UFC claiming maltreatment from the promotion.

Without an opponent, as coaches typically fought following the end of a season, Evans would pick up a fight against Thiago Silva at UFC 108, which he would win by unanimous decision.

The day prior to the TUF 10 Finale, Jackson would announce his return to the UFC and his intentions to settle his feud with Evans.

Evans and 'Rampage' would ultimately fight in the headlining bout at UFC 114.

Evans would catch Jackson early in the first round and send him reeling, where 'Suga' would dominate the fight with wrestling.

In the third round, Jackson managed to hurt Evans, but 'Suga' would recover and end the fight on top.

Evans would win the grudge match by unanimous decision, winning one of the biggest rivalries in his career.
