South African Heavyweight Bout Cancelled After Injury From Fall Following Ring Rope Mishap

A heavyweight boxing title bout in South Africa was scrapped before a single punch was even thrown after 6'9" fighter Ruann Visser fell out of the ring when the rope of the ring snapped.

Visser, who previously sparred with former world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, was poised to defend his South African heavyweight title in Cape Town.

But after the 18-2 fighter had entered the ring ahead of his bout with Tian Fick, he ended up tumbling backwards when he tried running the ropes and they completely snapped.

Visser hurt his left arm after using it in an attempt to cushion his fall onto the table and also injured his knee in the freak accident, which caused the fight to be scrapped on the recommendation of the doctors in attendance.
